How does group therapy work?
1. Individual initial consultation
Before joining a group, you will have an individual initial consulation. You can talk about what brings you to the group and what you hope for, ask any questions you may have, and find out more about how the group works and what to expect.
2. Deciding whether the group is right for you
Afterwards, we will consider whether the group is suitable for what you would like to work on and whether joining the group is possible.
3. Group sessions
Sessions take place every fortnight. The group has a fixed membership, and it is not possible to join once the group has started. Current Groups
Why group therapy?
Share experiences with others
Other group members bring different experiences and perspectives. Sharing and hearing from one another can help you look at your own concerns from different perspectives.
Notice how you relate to others
Ways of behaving and patterns in relationships can also emerge in your interactions with others in the group. They can be noticed and talked about, and you can try out different ways of relating.
Explore issues through psychodrama
In psychodrama, situations can be enacted and explored from different perspectives. Alongside talking about them, you can also try out alternative ways of responding in practice.
In a psychodrama group, inner experiences can be made visible and explored together. This may help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and others.
