Legal information
This page provides information about the legal framework governing my work as a psychotherapist. Only the German version is legally authoritative; the English version is provided for ease of understanding.
Psychotherapist in training under supervision
“In Fachausbildung unter Lehrsupervision” (until September 30, 2026, “in Ausbildung unter Supervision ”), English: "in training under supervision", means that I am in the final stage of my legally regulated psychotherapy training. At this stage of my training, I already provide psychotherapy independently. My therapeutic work is regularly discussed and reflected on in supervision with an experienced training supervisor.
This supervision provides a professional setting for reflecting on my therapeutic work and forms part of ongoing quality assurance.
Psychotherapy provided by psychotherapists in training under supervision is not eligible for reimbursement through Austrian public health insurance. Sessions therefore need to be paid for privately. Whether costs may be covered by private insurance or another funding body will depend on the individual provider and should be checked with them directly.
Confidentiality
Under § 45 of the Psychotherapy Act of 2024 (PThG 2024) I am legally bound by confidentiality. This applies to all confidential information entrusted to me or otherwise disclosed to me in the course of my work as a psychotherapist. The duty of confidentiality continues after therapy has ended.
Any statutory duties to disclose or report information remain unaffected.
